On the 19th-21st it was time for the troop to get their “hiking legs” on for the camp-out to Henry Coe State Park. 36 scouts hiked into our campsite Friday night with packs on their backs and flashlights in their hands! On Saturday, the Venture Patrol left for a little 16 mile “tune up” hike and overnight to prepare for their upcoming Yosemite Backpack trip in August. It was a “HOT” hike with the infamous “RIDICULOUS HILL” just one of many hills for the Venture patrol to climb. At Camp Royaneh, it’s all downhill but at Henry Coe it was “When will there be a downhill?”. The scouts learned to appreciate cool, clear, water. Meanwhile, the rest of the troop took a “little” 5 mile stroll through Henry Coe after 1st practicing a little map reading and writing. Along the way the newer scouts had a chance to “name that plant” for fun and advancements. A successful camp-out for all the troop!

Troop 103 was recognized “again” on May 13th at the District Recognition Dinner by receiving a Distinguished Unit Award. Way to go Troop 103!
